Farm Bureau Insurance Lowers Rates for Arkansas Boat Owners

Most Arkansans love being out on the water. Whether jet skiing on Kahuna Bay or bass fishing at Lake Dardanelle, our state boasts 600,000 acres of lakes and over 90,000 miles of waterways just waiting to be explored.

Many residents of the Natural State are proud watercraft owners. And like any significant asset, your boat should be insured. Farm Bureau Insurance has some great news for Arkansas boat owners. In August, boat insurance premiums will drop significantly!

Why Insure Your Boat?

Arkansas law requires $50,000 of liability insurance on all personal watercraft with a 50 horsepower engine or greater. Owners should keep proof of this insurance in your boat at all times and produce it if requested by law enforcement. Liability insurance covers damages if your boat causes bodily or property damage to others.

A general boater’s policy will cover up to $100 for towing if your boat becomes disabled on the water.

Protect your investment with Our Physical Damage policies, which cover repairs and replacement if your boat is damaged on the water, in storage, or during transit.

If another boater causes damage to your watercraft, you should be protected by their liability coverage. Unfortunately, some boaters break the law by not carrying liability insurance of their own. Uninsured Boater Coverage covers you and your property in this type of situation.

What Types of Boat Insurance Will Be Discounted?

As of August 1, Farm Bureau Insurance will reduce rates on all boat insurance except for houseboats. Ski boats, cabin boats, bass and other fishing boats, pontoons, sailboats, jet skis, and extra motors will all qualify for reduced rates.

Farm Bureau Insurance also offers discounts for clients who insure more than one boat or for boat owners who also have home or auto insurance with us.

Cover Your Fishing & Boating Gear

Fishing and boating equipment is expensive! Protect your rods, reels, and other gear with a Fishing Gear Endorsement on your Boat Insurance policy. You can also increase your boat equipment coverage from $500 to up to $10,000. Anchors, oars, detachable motors, skis, and inflatables are all covered by this endorsement.

What Other Types of Boats Do We Cover?

While not included under the new discounts, Farm Bureau Insurance does provide coverage for other noncommercial boats including houseboats, canoes, kayaks, and deck boats.

For houseboats, you can also purchase contents coverage. Contents coverage will replace your household contents, in case of fire, theft, or some other catastrophic event.
