Pick Your Own Fruit and Berries This Summer

With spring upon us and summer quickly approaching, farms and orchards are finally seeing the fruits of their labor. If you’re looking for a fun, hands-on outdoor activity for your family, why not venture out to an orchard and farm to pick yourself the freshest possible fruits and veggies?

Note: June and July will be the best time to pick peaches, blackberries, blueberries, and plums. August is ideal for picking muscadines, and October will bring pumpkins.

1. Royal Berry Farm – Royal, Arkansas

Royal Berry Farm specializes in big, delicious blueberries. Buckets and bags for picking are provided. You can visit their Facebook page for the latest information on which spots have been “picked out.”

2. Peach Pickin Paradise – Lamar, Arkansas

From late June through August, the peach orchards are open to the public. Check their Facebook page for updates.

3. Cox Berry Farm – Clarksville, Arkansas

Mid-June is late strawberry and raspberry season at Cox Berry Farm, with blueberries and blackberries coming at the end of the month. It’s a cash-only operation, so come prepared.

4. Cadron Crest Orchard – Guy, Arkansas

Located in the small-town of Guy, Cadron Crest Orchard is nestled a bit off the beaten path, but the delicious peaches they’re known for can make the journey worthwhile.

5. Taylor’s Orchard – Gentry, Arkansas

Taylor’s Orchard is located in Gentry, which is more famously known as the home of the Little Debbie snack factory. However, this farm is producing equally tasty snacks that happen to be a bit healthier as well.

6. Rivercrest Orchard – Fayetteville, Arkansas

Unlike a lot of the other farms and orchards on this list, the Rivercrest Orchard looks to host fun family activities year round. So, if you can’t do any picking, there’s always something else to do as well, like the recent Tulip and Easter Festivals.

7. Suzanne’s Fruit Farm & Peach Orchards – Hampton, Arkansas

This sprawling 155-acre farm has been in business, owned and operated by the Reddins, since 1975. The family-friendly atmosphere alone is enough to bring you in, but you’ll come back for the remarkable selection of fruits. Call their fruit hotline at (870) 798-4975, which is updated daily with hours and fruit availability.

8. Faulkner Lake Orchard – North Little Rock, Arkansas

Faulkner Lake Orchard is a family-owned farm, wedding venue, and market. Visit their Facebook page to see what is currently available.

9. Scatter Creek Berries – Paragould, Arkansas

This farm was designed as a pick-your-own berry farm to serve as a kid and family friendly activity. They have more than 2 miles of thornless blackberry plants to pick from each summer.

10. Wye Mountain Farm – Roland, Arkansas

Wye Mountain Farm offers u-pick berries and fresh cut flowers like sunflowers and zinnias. Visit their farm stand for bouquets and honey if you can’t pick yourself. Their sister farm operation produces fresh beef and eggs.

11. Mountain Home Berry Farm – Mountain Home, Arkansas

Mountain Home Berry Farm is a family oriented operation in the Ozarks of North Central Arkansas. They are dedicated to natural growing practices and sustainable agriculture. Visit them in the middle of June for their annual berry festival.

12. McGarrah Farms – Pea Ridge/Lowell, Arkansas

The McGarrah family aims to provide a family atmosphere and a great place to spend time outdoors gathering fresh food. Berries are available between May and July, and the farm becomes a fall activity destination with hay rides, mazes, pumpkin patches, and more.
